Mountain and Riviera di Ulisse natural parks
CAMPELLO AND ITS WALLS

Length: 6 km
Touristic excursion suitable for everyone, from the little ones to those who want to
approach the trekking. We will reach the wells plain, a well-known karst locality, where it is
possible to observe the tritons in the typical cisterns for the collection of rainwater. Later
we will be discovering the ancient walls of the medieval village of Campello
F104S AND TOP OF MOUNT VIOLA

Difference in height: 600 meters
Length: 15 km
Journey time: 6 hours
Mount Viola, between the Campello plain on the side of Itri and the Filetto plain on the side
of Formia. The path is mostly exposed to the sun with flat sections for the initial part and
the intermediate part. The final, in which we will meet the major differences in altitude, is in
the shade of a fresh forest. Along the path we will stop on the remains of the F104S fighter
of the Italian air force crashed, for reasons still unknown.
CARBONAI AND TOP OF MOUNT ORSO

Length: 8 km
Journey time: 5 hours
We will gradually climb from the Valle locality to Raelle in the shade of holm oaks forests;
from here the path is entirely in the sun. Once you reach the peak of Mount Orso you can
see one of the most beautiful landscapes of Itri. The last stretch, the hardest, takes us to
1023 meters a.s.l., which will lead us to the discovery of one of the oldest crafts practiced
in the Aurunci Mountains, the charcoal burners.
KARST PHENOMENA AND THE SCIRO VALLEY

Journey time: 6 hours
The trail to the Sciro Valley winds through woods, plains with the most beautiful views of
the gulf and mountains often overlooked by hikers. The naturalistic importance can be
understood as soon as you can see the Sciro valley, one of the most evocative places of
the Aurunci mountains, a karstic plain suspended between the ridges of Mount Tuonaco
and Mount Ruazzo. Spring sources, sinkholes, and unique landscapes
